On Sunday, February 8, there was a crash in Louisiana involving a teen from Little Rock.
According to Louisiana State Troopers, the crash happened on the Interstate 55, north of LA 442 in Tangipahoa Parish. Nakayla Camp, who was 19 years old and of Little Rock, was driving an SUV when she lost control of her vehicle which went off of the right lane onto the grassy shoulder. She over corrected to the left and the car went across the southbound lanes and into the median. It then overturned, landing in the northbound lane.
Camp was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected but survived and was airlifted to a hospital in a critical condition. However, her passenger, 19 year old Shayla Hayes, who did have her seat belt on, was severely injured and died on the scene.
As part of the investigation, blood and alcohol tests were done on Camp, and she was issued a summons for careless operation and no driver’s license. Once the results of toxicology are in, there may be additional charges.
