Pine Bluff Boy Died in Accident

Early on Saturday morning, December 3, a Pine Bluff boy died and four others were injured in a car crash in Jefferson County.

According to the Arkansas State Police the crash happened around 6:20 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 65 at the Cottondale overpass. It appears that the boy was a passenger in a 2006 Dodge Durango being driven by 28 year old Phillip Cummins of Pine Bluff and was traveling northbound when it left the roadway and struck a guardrail. A boy in the vehicle was ejected and struck by a 2015 Nissan Altima. It is not known whether the ejected passenger was the boy who died. Cummins, 30 year old Matina Cummins and two children, a boy and a girl were injured and taken to Jefferson regional Medical Center.

It is not known why the vehicle left the roadway but weather may be a factor as the road was wet and it was raining.
