On Friday, August 21, a man was critically injured having been hit by a car.
According to the Arkansas State Police, the incident happened just before 11 p.m. when 22 year old Michael McKenzie of Mountain Home was trying to cross U.S. Highway 62 East near the Royal 66. As he was crossing the highway he was hit by a gray sedan which had Missouri tags. The impact was such that the left front of the car was severely damaged as was the windshield, and McKenzie was thrown into a ditch.
McKenzie was rushed by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center from where he was transferred to UAMS in Little Rock where he is currently still in critical condition.
There is conflicting information as to whether the driver of the vehicle stopped and Arkansas police are investigating but no further information has been released.
